Posters

Overview

This topic provides federal and state-specific general requirements regarding workplace posters. The laws in most states require that posters be placed in conspicuous and accessible places where employees work, and where employees can easily read them, for example, where employees can see them as they come and go from work, in break rooms, or bulletin boards where other employment-related information is typically posted. If the worksite is particularly large, consider posting the notices in several locations

Additionally, every state must follow the federal poster requirements in addition to their own state requirements. General information on federal poster requirements can be found here.

Additional Information

WHD considers electronic posting (via email, or an internet or intranet website) as satisfying the employer’s requirement to provide employees with required notice of their statutory rights under a variety of federal labor laws.

You may be required to make printed notices available in an accessible format, as needed, to persons with disabilities who have limitations on their ability to see or read.

This topic does not cover:

  • Predictive and/or fair scheduling laws (however, to the extent those laws require the posting of rules or policies, those specific requirements are included)
