Why do I need a Handbook?
An employee handbook provides your employees with a detailed overview of the
organization’s policies and communicates other key procedures, guidelines, and benefits.
A well-crafted and up-to-date employee handbook is the foundation for building a
great employee experience and it can become the core element of an effective and
compliant HR strategy as you build your team.
Can I see all the state guides?
The only way to navigate through a guide is state-by-state. All state guides have the same basic Table of Contents; for example, California has more sub-topics than New York or Texas, but they also have similarities. The table of contents or the search functionality (Control + F) is how you can find or locate your specific topics.
💡Tip! When searching, less is better, and use specific words if possible.
How often are the templates/checklists updated?
ComplianceHR updates logic and content before a new regulation's effective date. However, legal updates can require analysis and development before they're updated in the system, so there's always a small gap between when something is enacted and when the system update occurs.
We attempt to update the system as close to a regulation's enacted date as possible. Still, some legal changes require more analysis from subject matter experts or a more significant amount of development which can cause a larger gap in time after the enacted date.
Do you have recommendations for updating my handbook now that I've created it?
Yes, we have a great blog post, Make Reviewing and Updating Your Handbook Easier, specifically designed to help clients as they get started with this important task.

What is the cadence of the Policy Smart bi-weekly ComplianceHR email for the Federal and State Compliance legal updates?
The PolicySmart™ email updates are sent out twice a month, which usually occurs as close to the 1st and 15th of each month, but the Knowledge Management Team can make updates within the system at any time.
